Churches and cemeteries significantly shape the landscape of South Tyrol. Churches are usually located in prominent, highly visible positions, with the cemetery directly attached, forming an enclosed and delimited flat space. By adding an additional terrace, we aim to acknowledge this aspect and preserve the unique beauty of the existing church space.
The existing cemetery will no longer provide sufficient space for burials in the future. Therefore, there is an urgent need to expand it. The existing cemetery also requires renovation, and the issue of inadequate parking during ceremonies needs to be addressed. The following points have been determined as part of the developed study:
– The cemetery will be expanded by 8 meters to the north.
– There will be provisions for 20 new burial plots and 7 urn graves.
– Open space and green areas for scattering ashes.
– Toilets and storage facilities in the basement.
– Additional parking spaces.
– Renovation work on the old cemetery will commence after 10 years.
